Teacher Leadership: Building Collective Efficacy

Venue: Sebel Hotel – 95 Charlotte Street Brisbane CBD

Date: Monday November 21st

Time: 9.00am – 3.00pm

COST: $395/person$1000 for schools groups of 3

When teachers share a belief that they and their colleagues can impact student achievement, they share a sense of collective teacher efficacy. What is the relationship then of teacher leadership to collective efficacy, the greatest factor impacting student achievement? (Hattie, 2016)

As leaders of others, participants in this workshop will consider the following:

  • What are the key attributes, knowledge and skills needed, and roles adopted by teacher leaders?
  • How can leaders strategically plan to enable conditions in building teacher leaders’ capabilities within a collaborative community of practice? Will this develop a culture focused on collective efficacy?
  • How can leaders empower teacher leaders’ voices and ownership in building high-quality professional learning teams and culture?

This workshop is directly applicable for all leaders- principals, deputy principals, middle/aspiring and teacher leaders in refining their capabilities to lead others.

The Art of Coaching 101

Venue: Fitzy’s – Bryants Rd & Pacific Hwy, Loganholme

Date: Thursday November 24th

Time: 9.00am – 3.00pm

COST: $395/person – $1000 for schools groups of 3

“Coaching that is practiced as an art is coaching that has the power to transform” (Aguilar, 2013, p. viii).

There is general agreement that educators want and need continuous professional learning to further craft their knowledge, skills and practice. Coaching is an essential and well-regarded tool for this learning.

Building a coaching network, participants will:

  • Create a coaching vision
  • Explore a variety of coaching models
  • Delve more deeply into transformational coaching, its components, tools and strategies
  • Explore the building of trust in any educational context through knowledge of teachers’ strengths and school culture
  • Further refine and craft their coaching skillset eg. coaching conversations, asking powerful questions, building trust, active listening and taking low inference observations
  • Reflect on dealing with difficult conversations
  • Reflect on their own stage of development on the coaching continuum.

This workshop is designed for new and veteran coaches, mentors, HOD’s, HOC’s and all instructional leaders. Coaching 101 is the first of our two coaching modules, facilitated by our experienced consultant/coaches.

Coaching Teams: Creating a Coaching Culture to Transform Your School

In the frenetic environment of schools, leaders can feel as if they have limited opportunities to build the capability of their teams. Bringing people together to focus on the most important work may sound easy, but we can feel pressed for time and lass effective than we would like. Creating alignment and opportunities to intentionally collaborate to get results is the work of high performing teams. How do we optimise the time spent working together?

Coaching Teams participants will:

  • Understand the foundations of trust and psychological safety Build a culture of coaching across their teams
  • Create an Emotionally Intelligent Team
  • Develop effective communication strategies
  • Manage conflict
  • Formulate decision making protocols
  • Design an Action Plan for 2023

This workshop is designed for Team Leaders, coaches, mentors, HoDs, HoCs, Deputy Principals, Instructional Leaders. Coaching Teams is the first workshop of a two-part series. Workshop Two will be in 2023, date TBD.

Imposter Syndrome: Getting out of your own way to be the leader you want to be

Did you know that 95% of female leaders in schools admit to experiencing ‘Imposter Syndrome’?
(**LEADQ Survey of 1500 QLD School leaders**) Do you doubt yourself and your capabilities even though you know you are more than qualified and knowledgeable? Do you sometimes feel like a fraud, withdraw from challenges or find it difficult to accept your accomplishments?

Imposter Syndrome can have a major impact on the way you lead, the way you communicate and the way you interact with people at work. The good news is that unhelpful thinking can be changed for the better.

Imposter Syndrome participants will:

  • Understand where unhelpful frames come from
  • Acknowledge the implications of sustaining this way of thinking
  • Learn ways of challenging ‘imposter’ thoughts as they arise
  • Identify opportunities to adopt new behaviours
  • Set achievable goals and commit to future progress

This workshop is designed for all education leaders as well as those who are aspiring and identify that Imposter Syndrome could be affecting your goal achievement. On completion of the program, there is an option for one-on-one coaching with one of our experienced coaches to support your progress.
